Membership-based primary care—also known as concierge primary care—is a healthcare model in which patients pay a recurring membership fee in exchange for enhanced access to their primary care provider and a more personalized care experience. This model allows for longer appointments, same- or next-day scheduling, and direct communication with your doctor, all within a relationship-focused setting.

Does Priority Care Boston accept insurance?
Yes. Like traditional primary care practices, we bill insurance for covered services. Your membership fee covers the enhanced access and personal care experience, but it does not replace your health insurance. We recommend that all members maintain active health coverage to help with the costs of labs, imaging, medications, specialist visits, and hospital services.

What about Medicare?
Concierge care is separate from Medicare, but Medicare still works in parallel for anything not directly billed by the concierge practice. This hybrid model allows patients to get the personalized care of concierge medicine without losing access to Medicare benefits for the broader healthcare system. Medicare can still be used for services outside the concierge agreement, such as:

Specialist referrals: If your doctor refers you to a specialist who accepts Medicare, Medicare can cover the specialist’s services.

Diagnostic tests: Lab work, imaging (like MRIs or CT scans), or other diagnostic services done at outside facilities that accept Medicare are typically covered.

Hospital care: If you’re hospitalized or need emergency care at a Medicare-participating facility, Medicare will cover that.

Absolutely. Your insurance will continue to cover labs, imaging, prescriptions, and referrals to specialists or hospitals, just as it would in a traditional primary care setting. Our care team is happy to coordinate these services as part of your overall care plan.
